Source: Curve Digital (Image credit: Source: Curve Digital) As for projectiles, the same seems to apply don't land directly in front of one and you won't take damage. If you're going to land within the explosion's radius at the end of the dodge you will take damage. While you can dodge to prevent all damage, it seems that you must land outside the explosion. I tested by dodging repeatedly into an explosion radius, as well as out of an explosion radius. The Ascent doesn't quite grant invincibility frames (i-frames) while dodging. Use your dodge charges wisely for best effect. Once depleted, there will be a short cooldown before you can dodge again. The red circle around your player includes an arrow in the direction that you're aiming any chevrons above that arrow indicate dodge charges. Use your dodge ability properlyĭodging in The Ascent is a useful tool, but it's not meant to be spammed. They'll also take their own cover, which will force you to change positions. This seems to reduce your accuracy, but it will keep your health bar filled.Įnemies will adapt to your cover as you progress through the game, shooting with seeker projectiles or leaping up close for melee damage. Enemies won't be able to hit you when you crouch behind half-height environment, but you can hold up your gun and shoot over. ![]() Luckily, The Ascent has a neat cover system that lets you deal damage without receiving damage. Save your game before proceeding and then take the stairs in the southwest corner up to the next level. There is a Save Crystal just outside of the room that you arrive in out on the circular pathway. One contains the Gil Toss Technick, if you do not have it already, one contains a Sash and the last contains a set of Dragon Mail armor. There are three optional treasure chests which you can pick up though. Travel to the northwest corner to find the stairs leading to the next level. The only things to find on this floor are two Fool’s Façade doors which can be found in the northeast and southwest corners of 63F. You will start off in the southeast corner. There is a treasure chest in the southwest area which contains a Zeus Mace and one in the north which contains a Tula. You might be able to get away without using the Attack command by focusing on Magick spells and Technicks you might be able to get around using items by focusing on Magick spells but the easiest ability to do without is the ability to access your mini-map. ![]() Altar of Wealth (Yellow) will remove the ability to use items Altar of Steel (White) will remove the ability to use the Attack command Altar of Magicks (Purple) will remove the ability to cast Magick spells Altar of Knowledge (Pink) will remove access to your mini-map Examining an Altar and choosing to “Touch the Altar” will seal one of your abilities according to the following: You will notice that there are four Altars located around The Reach. Traveling through the next few levels of the Pharos in the Second Ascent involve exploring without one of your primary commands. Head to the northwest section of The Reach to find a Save Crystal where you can save your progress. We are not quite done climbing the Pharos just yet. ![]()
